Celebrate the 4th with KRF!

The Parade begins at the intersection of Main and Ontario at 10 a.m. and moves north to Olive Avenue. Grab a seat early along Main Street near one of the three announcers’ booths along the route located at the intersections of Main/Pueblo, Main/Rancho, and Main/Francis to watch the more than 70 entries representing local sports teams, non-profits, and businesses celebrate Independence Day in our community.

The festivities continue at 4 p.m.  at Santana Park with the Family Festival which includes games, bouncers, food booths, and live entertainment throughout the day. The Fender Benders from the Kids Rock Free® program open the entertainment at the Festival followed by the ever talented Southland Band which is returning to our event this year. Pop Vinyl, a popular Southern California band brings its vibrant sound to the stage at 7 p.m. With a dynamic play list featuring everything from Motown to classic rock to current hits, Pop Vinyl brings energy and fun to entertain its audiences and get the crowd popping. I have been at Fender for three years and I have learned a lot from Lee. Lee has helped me with songs, riffs, and the summer jams. Some of the songs I have learned are Sunshine of Your Love, Beat It, Smoke on the Water, just to name a few. My goals are to be in the KRF Bands. Thank you for providing me with lessons. Rock on Fender!!!

Casey Abrams’ story is that of a born natural, but it’s also the story of a person who studied diligently and worked extremely hard, striving toward his dream of a life in music. He was born in Austin, Texas to professionally accomplished, extraordinarily creative parents. Casey’s mother, Pamela Pierce, a screenwriter and teacher, also plays piano and sings. His father, Ira Abrams currently teaches at Idyllwild Arts Academy. The walls of Casey’s childhood home resonated with, “the music of the 1950s and ‘60s,” he states. Even then, he was “hearing those blues riffs and little things that make a song what it is.”

I Love the DRUMS! - Sophie’s Story

Kids Rock Free has really changed my life! I love playing the drums. I’m always keeping a beat to something, or playing in the car, or even on the dinner table. I have been playing for 4 years and it’s my passion. I am recently in a band and it’s been wonderful. I love playing with amazing people, and playing awesome songs. Sometimes when I feel down, I like to play the drums or keep a beat in my head. I always have people saying I have such an amazing talent for how old I am. Sometimes it’s hard like a couple songs or lil things, or rhythms. I always keep my head up and love learning more!

Sophia is 12 years old and she participates in both the Drumline, as well as a band. We’re very happy to have received this story from her.
